Future Home promotes sustainable home design, building, interiors, technology and community life inspired by the award-winning Vaux neighbourhood being built at Riverside Sunderland.
Designed to support 21st-century living patterns, homes are built using Modern Methods of Construction, a range of sustainable and low-carbon technologies (including Passivhaus), and renewable energy, all of which will contribute to Sunderland’s commitment to become carbon neutral by 2040.
Visitors to Future Homes can expect first-hand immersion in the best of British design: concept homes from winners of the Government’s Home of 2030 competition (run by Homes England in partnership with BRE, Design Council, MOBIE and RIBA), while trade and consumer events explore the knowledge, products and services that bring advanced, smart, green building to life.
