Sunderland is considered to be the most ambitious city centre regeneration project in the UK, and is on track to become one of the UK’s most advanced smart cities.
Committed to smart, sustainable growth, and focussed on community life, leisure and culture, Sunderland Riverside is transforming into the UK’s first sustainable carbon neutral urban quarter, a unique and extraordinary place to live, work and play.
Located in Keel Square, Expo Pavilion, will be a centrepiece for Expo Sunderland events taking place in 2025. This striking modern structure, featuring one of the UK's largest outdoor high-definition semi transparent LED screens at 20x5 metres, will explore the theme of 'home' in the context of place and future living.
The Pavilion will host a series of inspiring multimedia showcases and events, providing the local community and visitors the chance to see how sustainable technologies and innovative storytelling techniques can be used to shape and influence our understanding of 'home’ and future living.
Expo Pavilion aims to encourage visitors to reflect upon their own relationship and connection towards culture, environment, and 'home' - to encourage well-being, and positive thinking towards future living.
‘Home’ is more than just a physical structure, it reflects upon our identity, cultural expression, and community that is constantly evolving and changing. To explore these themes further Expo Pavilion will be hosting exhibitions, educational programs, workshops, talks and events, targeting local communities, schools, and art enthusiasts from the UK and abroad.
