Synopsis
Amidst the vast expanse of the cosmos, an astronaut finds themselves adrift, severed from the safety of their mothership and floating weightlessly through hallucinatory gardens of vibrant flowers, drifting nebulas, and iridescent butterflies, each hypnotic element poignantly woven from memories of their life and their dwindling oxygen levels.
The piece delves into the profound solitude of space and the mysteries of the human psyche, prompting contemplation on life's fleeting nature and the mind's capacity to conjure beauty and find serenity in the face of profound loneliness and imminent silence.
Crafted by Davy and Kristin McGuire of Studio McGuire with music by Spesh Maloney.
With thanks to Katherine Jewkes and Anthony Attwood.
The original work was commissioned for the Bristol Light Festival 2024.
