Neil Murphy

Director, Town

Neil Murphy is the co-founding director of TOWN and a recognised authority on urban regeneration and the practical realisation of sustainable development.

The multi-award-winning Marmalade Lane Cohousing development in Cambridge, completed in 2019, established TOWN as one of the UK’s leading progressive SME developers. The company now has a pipeline of several hundred homes in community-oriented housing schemes nationwide, as well as major mixed-use public-private regeneration projects including Love Wolverton in Milton Keynes and Hartree in Cambridge.

Neil is project director for TOWN’s work in Sunderland and with the City Council, which encompasses an area-wide ‘place strategy’ for the Sunniside neighbourhood along with the conception, planning and delivery of the centrepiece 75-home Nile + Villiers scheme which will start on site before the end of 2024

Neil’s early career was spent in the Treasury and in local government, giving him a distinctive perspective on economic, social and commercial alignment in development. He lives and is based in the North East.
